Iced beverages are a necessity in order to keep cool in the unbearable summer heat. Iced tea, whether sugary sweet as we like it in the South or unsweetened as most of the rest of the country prefers it, is always a standard chiller. Even iced green tea has become mainstream, especially with the addition of berries and fruits to give it a little brighter flavor. But with all the flavors present in, not only black and green teas, but also herbal teas and tisanes, are we missing out by sticking with the standards?

Not anymore!

The Standard Base

There's no need to move away from black and green teas entirely. After all, they have been keeping us chilled out forever. We've already talked about how to brew the best iced tea but what about iced drinks using black and green teas as a base?

In addition to the simple flavored iced teas you can make using flavored syrups or our flavored teas think outside the box and try an iced tea latte.

Iced Breakfast Tea Latte

For an eye-opening chilled drink on those mornings when it's already hot outside, reach for one of these iced breakfast tea lattes. Truly as simple as making your hot breakfast tea, we do suggest making your tea ahead of time so it doesn't get watered down with the ice. Better yet, make tea ice cubes to keep the flavor good and strong.

INGREDIENTS

4 tsp English or Irish Breakfast Tea
8 oz boiling water
2 oz milk (or your favorite substitute)
Sugar to taste (or honey, agave, stevia if you prefer)

INSTRUCTIONS

Steep your tea in the water for 5 minutes. Add your sugar now so it can easily dissolve. Strain and let cool. Pour the cooled tea over ice cubes. Add milk and stir well. For a frothy drink, use a cup with a lid or a mason jar and shake well.

Iced Lavender London Fog

This Earl Grey latte has even more floral notes with the addition of lavender. Make it the easy way with our Monin Lavender Syrup (replace the lavender concentrate and the sweetener in the recipe below with 2 pumps of the syrup).

1/4 cup culinary lavender

Latte

8 oz boiling water
4 tsp Earl Grey
Sugar to taste (or honey, agave, stevia if you prefer)

Lavender Concentrate

In a large lidded jar, combine the lavender and water. Mix and let sit at room temperature for an hour. Strain and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Latte

Iced Matcha Latte

This is one of the most popular iced tea drinks running. Make this one with our Mighty Leaf Organic Emerald Matcha Green Tea teabag.

INGREDIENTS

8 oz hot water (just off the boil)
1 Mighty Leaf Organic Emerald Matcha tea bag
2 oz milk (or your favorite substitute)
Sugar to taste (or honey, agave, stevia if you prefer)

In a cup, steep tea bag for 3 minutes. Add your sugar now so it can easily dissolve. Remove the teabag and let cool. Pour cooled tea over ice and add milk. Stir well. For a frothy drink, use a cup with a lid or a mason jar and shake well.

Iced Chamomile Tea

For something immensely relaxing, try a tall glass of iced chamomile tea. You can follow any of the instructions above to make it into a latte.

Iced Mint Tea

Incredibly refreshing hot, mint tea over ice will really cool you down. Make it even mintier by adding a couple of pumps of Monin Mint Syrup to your iced mint tea.

Tisanes to the Rescue

You already know you can serve our fruity and floral tisanes over ice. Make them even cooler by freezing them into tea pops. Even the kids will enjoy these over those sugary ice pops.
